Over 80% Nurses fails their 2018 licensure exams.
Over 80% percent of Nurses trainees who wrote the licensure exams last year 2018 are reported to have failed and are to rewrite the exams within a month hopefully 3rd and 4th June 2019.
Some students who spoke to journalists but want their identity withheld said such fail is a diabolical tactics to withheld their certificate in other to prolong them to stay home.
“We have been told that government is not going to post us, we have to write application letters for job so why do you have to fail us again?”
When asked why government not posting they the 2018 batch of Nurses of which is not the usual of system in the country another students revealed that “government said they have given us allowa when we were in school so we are not going to be postd by government and if that is the case why do you fail us again?”
According to them another inhuman and frustrations thing is that they are to pay to the Nursing council Ghc 2800.00 incase you want remarking meanwhile period for the resit is just a month away.
“You said we should pay GHC 2800.00″ for remarking and you also fixed a date for the resit just a month away is this on humanity?”
According to the students their tutors told them their paper ware marked more then two times.
‘What was our crime that our papers have to go through two or three times markings?’
A checked from one of nursing collages revealed that about 500 students who wrote the licensure exams only a little over 100 passed all their papers.
An effort has been made to speak to the Nursing and Midwifery council to get facts of the report but all effort has been unsuccessful.
It will be recalled that majorities of both Teachers and lawyers who wrote such licensure exams last year also failed and have to resit for such exams again, but nobody knows why such high number of failing of students has for the first time in the history of Ghana hits our tertiary institutions.
