PRESS STATEMENT FROM MEDIA INTELLIGENCE SOLUTIONS LIMITED ON THE KILLING OF A TIGER EYE PI JOURNALIST
16th January, 2019 night was another tragic night against journalism in Ghana and Africa as a whole, as Ahmed Sualah a member of the Tiger Eye PI team that undertook the Number 12 video documentary was shot dead at Madina in Accra.
The Number 12 video documentary was an investigative journalistic piece that unearthed some malpractices in the Ghana Football Association leading to the suspension and later ban on some top notch officials within the Ghana Football Association, including the president Kwesi Nyantakyi. This investigative piece did not spare Ghanaian and African referees as some of them also suffered ban by the world football governing body, FIFA.
During the premiere of this documentary, a member of Parliament representing the Assin Central Constituency Hon Kennedy Ohene Agyepong whom the expose did go down well with him went on air to attack the credibility of the Tiger Eye PI and incited people to attack the slain Ahmed Suale, adding that Ahmed was a resident of Madina and people should beat him up when they spot him around.
We at Media Intelligence Solutions Limited, an independent research and advocacy organization are sad and we feel this is an attack on journalism and anti corruption campaign. It is clearly a case of barbarism to the peak and should be condemned by any well meaning personality.
We therefore call on the authorities that matter to treat the Assin Central legislature as a prime suspect and invite him for investigation following his verbal attack and threat on the personality of the deceased during the premiere of the number 12 investigative piece.
We also call on the government, the police service and all other institutions that matter to investigate this sad incident and bring the perpetrators of this inhuman act to book.
This would serve as a deterrent to other unscrupulous human beings in our society and help push the spirit of fair journalism. We therefore want to send our sincere condolence to the bereaved family and Tiger Eye PI team.
A soul is gone but that is not the end.
